The programme of the 1st SAFG Conference on Empowering African Businesses to Empower their Economies (SAFG2015) aims to provide new insights into how an epistemic community of ideas based on collective engagement that focus on nurturing small and medium-size companies can lead to novel development directions and help translate theoretical advances into practical cooperation while building evidence for successful programme implementation. The Programme Committee is dedicated to ensuring that the content will be relevant to today’s questions, including addressing the challenges of expanding the Scandinavian Model in resource-limited settings. An additional priority is ensuring that the presentations focus on the latest African development dynamics and its practical applications for small and medium-size companies in the context of partnering with Scandinavian companies.
In addition to abstract driven sessions, the conference will offer daily plenary sessions featuring distinguished development experts, companies, orgganizations, policy makers and government officials. Other non–abstract driven sessions include special sessions with some research leaders, symposia, focusing on a single, clearly defined topic or issue; Meet the Experts sessions which bring experts together to meet with small groups of participants to discuss, face to face, the challenges and opportunities presented by partnerships; and bridging sessions, which provide an opportunity for a multi-disciplinary, cross-track discussion of a single issue from a variety of viewpoints. SAFG 2015 will also hold professional development workshops, where some top topics, selected by the Programme Committee, will offer a variety of targeted workshops aimed at strengthening the skills and expanding the knowledge of development professionals.
